The NYTimes bestselling book „Six of Crows“, a fantasy novel by Leigh Bardugo, was launched in Germany this October. The book publishers asked me to paint the windows of the Otherland book store in Berlin as part of the launch campaign. Visually quite a departure from other windows I have done, this was a dark and sinister story to be conveyed on the shop windows.
I kept rather close to the original book artwork for recognition purposes. The amazing type of the book cover, the black crow flying over the clouds and towers of the ice palace creating a nice negative/positive play that let the passers-by peek into the window through the crow’s wing. The main book characters were presented on the second window with the seemingly impossible mission they have to fulfill.
